Newer doors, old openers
Some of what we find is original hardware that's been quietly wearing out for decades; some of it is a newer door with a worn-out opener bolted onto it.

Our services
We work on garage doors and the hardware that runs them: springs, cables, rollers, tracks, openers, and panels. Most of the houses we get called to around here were built somewhere between 1955 and 2014, with a lot of that stock going up in the 1960s and '70s, so we see a wide mix of door ages and opener generations on any given week.

We don't do the whole of residential construction. We don't frame openings, we don't do general carpentry, and we don't touch electrical work beyond the opener circuit itself.
If your door problem turns out to be a sagging header or a rotted jamb, we'll tell you that straight rather than try to make a garage door part fix a structural problem. A quote over the phone can only go so far.
We can give you a rough range once you describe the symptom - door won't open, spring snapped, opener grinds and stops - but the final number depends on things we can only confirm by looking at the door: the spring size and cycle count, whether the track is bent or just dirty, what the panels are made of, and whether parts for your specific opener model are still being made. Tell us the brand name on the opener motor if you can read it; that alone saves a trip in some cases.
Service area
We're based on Baltimore National Pike in Ellicott City and work the surrounding area, including Dorsey's Search about 2 miles to the southwest and Catonsville about 5 miles out. We also take calls from Woodlawn, Milford Mill, Randallstown, Elkridge, Lochearn, Arbutus, Windsor Mill, and the stretch running out toward Owings Mills, Pikesville, Reisterstown, and Towson.
The service area covers roughly 510,015 households and 177,301 owner-occupied houses spread across 62 named communities, which is part of why the door ages and styles vary so much from one street to the next. A quote for a house in a newer subdivision near Fulton or Highland can look very different from one for an older place closer to the original parts of town, simply because the hardware generation is different.
If you're outside the towns listed here, call anyway and we'll tell you honestly whether the job is in range for us.
Our team
There's no founding story to tell you and we're not going to invent one. What we can tell you is what we work on and how we price it.
We look at the door in front of us, not a generic listing, and we quote based on what the spring, track, and opener actually need - not a flat rate that assumes every door is the same. Winters here fall into the cold-severe band, and that matters more than people expect.
Cold tightens steel springs and thickens old lubricant, which is a common reason doors that worked fine in October start binding or refusing to open once temperatures drop. It's also why a spring that's near the end of its cycle life tends to let go in the coldest stretch of the year rather than in July.
Median household income in the service area runs around $109,790, and we see that reflected in the range of doors we're asked to quote - everything from a basic steel replacement to a heavier insulated door. We'll tell you plainly when a repair isn't worth the money and replacement makes more sense, and we'll tell you when it isn't.

Serving Ellicott City, MD
Call 14104210540 and describe the problem as specifically as you can: whether the door is stuck open or stuck shut, whether you hear the opener running, whether a spring is visibly snapped, and the rough age of the door if you know it. That's usually enough for us to give you a realistic range before anyone drives out.
We're located at 9051 Baltimore National Pike, Ellicott City, MD 21042. For anything beyond a phone estimate, we need to see the door in person - spring sizing, track alignment, and opener compatibility aren't things we can get right from a description alone.
If you're not sure the job is in our area, call and ask. You can also find more about what we do on our home page.
Questions
We can give a rough range if you describe the symptom clearly, but an exact price needs us to see the spring, track, and opener in person. Hardware varies a lot from house to house, especially with the mix of door ages in this area, so a phone number alone isn't reliable.
Yes. We cover the surrounding area including Dorsey's Search, Catonsville, Woodlawn, Elkridge, and towns further out toward Towson and Owings Mills. If you're not sure you're in range, call and we'll tell you honestly.
This area sits in a cold-severe winter band, and cold temperatures tighten steel springs and thicken old lubricant. A spring that's near the end of its life often fails in the coldest stretch of the year rather than during milder months.
No. We work on garage doors, springs, cables, tracks, rollers, panels, and openers. We don't do general carpentry, framing, or electrical work beyond the opener circuit, and we'll say so if your issue is outside that.
